The main causes of overspray are road work, construction, and exterior painting of houses or other buildings. When this paint dries, it causes little specks of dirt which become very hard and difficult to remove. There are many different methods and techniques for overspray removal. They all vary and depend upon how tough the speck has become, the amount of overspray, and how big are the stains.

1- Rubbing of a Regular Clay Bar 

By rubbing a regular clay bar thoroughly on the area affected by overspray, you can get rid of the overspray. But this can be effective only if the stains are not too hard and old. 2- Hard Plastic Razors

There is one more method of overspray removal and that is with the use of plastic razors. You can easily get plastic razors from the market which is made up of hard plastic. These razors are similar to the blades of a razor, but they are only made up of plastic. By pushing plastic razor against the overspray, you can remove it easily. These razors are safe to use and will not leave any scratch on your vehicle.
However, you should make sure that you only buy pure plastic razors for this purpose. Glass scrapers and razor blades are similar to plastic razors but they are harmful as they can damage your glass screen or the metallic surface of your car.

3- Dipping in Solvents or in Oils

This method of overspray removal can only be applicable if your overspray is fresh. By soaking the affected area in Vaseline or in metal friendly oils, you can get rid of overspray. If you cannot dip the surface in oil, you can put a good quantity of Vaseline or oil on the area affected with overspray and leaves it for 5 to 10 minutes. After the due time, you can easily remove the overspray by cleaning the oil and rubbing a clay bar on it. If you do not want to rub the clay bar, you can also use a microfiber towel for this purpose.
